Fut for those who may be interested, I just found out that there is a company making microtonal guitars in Sweden. I am not a guitar player myself so I cannot really judge it. If this is not news, just ignore me.

actually i think this person appeared on this list he had copyrighted bent frets and wasn't going to sue anyone who did the same. If it is a different person, i guess we will have another microtonal range war.

Carl, et al,

The instrument appears to require different necks for
different musical keys.

I tried to send an email to the address at the bottom
of the page with the picture of the guitar with wiggly
frets, but I couldn't get it to go out.

Yup, nifty stuff. I've had a link to that since mid-2006 when I was
told about it. In 2006 here between the organs:
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~bpl/larips/usage.html

http://truetemperament.com/main.php?go=13&lan=1
I think it's cool how he recommends that one especially to players of
jazz chords, i.e. more complex harmony than plain triads.

His video demonstrations are newer than 2006:

And check out his ankh!

Also of interest would be...

Hervé Raoul Chouard
http://www.geigen-und-gitarren-chouard-freising.de/
Maker of microtonal classical guitars with moveable frets.

And...

Mark Rankin
http://www.afn.org/~sejic/rankin.html
Maker of interchangeable fretboards for JI, temperaments, and
microtones of any sort.

And...

John Catler
http://www.freenotemusic.com/site/store/guitars.html
Producer of microtonal and JI electric guitars.

I, personally, and going with Mark Rankin, as I don't want to be stuck
with one (rather expensive) tuning, but would rather have many
interchangeable fretboards, even if it is a great deal of work. Work
can be good for you anyway.

Since many of the microtuned guitar fans seem to busy commenting;

So here's my angle on microtuning fretted instruments:

You may read objections to straight frettings, and yes I appreciate the benefits of Mark's removable/interchangeable fretboards.

My feelings are that if you want to experiment with frettings, choose your poison, suck it, and hear.

Hence I host a page which lists LucyTuned fretting specs. and is available for anyone to freely use for "non-commercial" purposes.

It is at:

http://www.lucytune.com/guitars_and_frets/frets.html

Although we all have our own "pet" favorite luthiers which we use, any competent luthier should be able to LucyFret guitars (or any frettted instruments) from the specs on that page.

LucyTuning being a meantone tuning and close to 88edo [(5*14) + (2*9)] , it avoids many of the restrictions of JI and has consistent Large (L) and small (s) interval sizes.

Yes you can play all those exotic "jazz chords" and many more that are beyond 12edo constraints, you can also modulate and transpose beyond 12 contiguous keys.

When tuned as specified with A=440Hz, the instruments and notenames will "exactly match" the tuning codes for DAW's which you can find at:

http://www.lucytune.com/midi_and_keyboard/pitch_bend.html

(Some people have suggested that I should enforce my patents and charge extortionate license fees.

Being an "idealist socialist", I prefer that wealth (or lack of it) not influence the pursuit of musical exploration. )

After all (as a European) I get "free" medical treatment and pension for life, unlike many musical explorers who choose to live in "poorer" nations.

So enjoy your experiments, and if you get a vote in the US, please vote "EARLY AND OFTEN" to remove that murderous bunch of crooks that have been destroying your country.

I don't believe it. Charles called LucyTuning a meantone!

Same sentiment goes for the citizens of us poorer nations in their pursuit to overthrow the so-called Islamist minions of multi-billion dollar conglomeratic imperialist powers.

OK Oz, ya got me. I should have typed "meantone-type", much as I object to the ugly sound of the term.

I suppose i deserved a an Islamic poke! for being political ....... ;-)
