A brand-new recording: Diaschismatic Music

Hi again.

For quite a long time, I was often confusing superpyth and diaschismatic temperaments. But now that I've understood how diaschismatic tempering works and tried it, I admit this is one of the most unexpected things that can occur in the huge collection of 5-limit temperaments. Bitonal chord combinations like D major + Ab major usually aren't played in anything else than 12-EDO and are usually not intended to be played in anything else. Well, diaschismatic scales seem like excellent candidates for this.

Okay, now it's the time to listen. The tuning I'm using in this piece is a simple regular temperament with a period of 600 cents and a generator of 105.8655 cents (i.e. 7/10 of the diaschisma wider than 135/128). Here is the link: http://download.yousendit.com/24CD4D0C32985025

Add 7 and you get pajara.

Do you mean using 7 generators instead of 6?

Using the mapping to the 7th harmonic. And perhaps a
slightly wider generator.

Sorry for being cryptic. There are several 7-limit mappings
available; pajara is the -2 generators one. See also:
