Re: Sucking

To the extent that I am interested in reading about or hearing someone
attempt to describe a piece of music, someone telling me it sucks gives me
essentially no information, since what many people think sucks I find
interesting. The people on this forum are intelligent and deserve more
than Butthead slang. If you're trying to describe a piece of music, why
not use more objective criteria which may give some insight into the music
instead of "sucks" which only tells me about yourself.
Also, if I want to hear what a particular tuning sounds like that I maybe
haven't heard before, I don't necessarily care if the composition "sucks".

Opinion: a belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive
knowledge.
Criticism: the art of evaluating or analyzing works of art or literature.
Analyze: to study or determine the nature and relationship of the parts of
by analysis.
Evaluate: to determine the significance, worth, or condition of usually by
careful appraisal and study.
Criteria: a standard on which a judgment or decision may be based
Sucks: slang : to be objectionable or inadequate.
