I quit

I have lurked on this site for a long time before posting. I have
learned some very interesting things by doing so. I loved the recent
discussion of absolute pitch perception, for example. But I resisted
posting because I dislike contentiousness and I have seen a lot of that
on this forum.

When the subject of the srutis came up I overcame my resistance to
posting because I thought I had something useful to add. However, from
my perspective the whole dialog around the srutis has become unpleasant
and surprisingly ridiculous, as well as pointless and unproductive.

I'm sorry I ever got involved in this discussion. If anyone wants to
make use of the table of srutis that I offered, you're welcome to do
so. I think you'll find it useful if you're serious about
understanding the srutis.

I will now retire back to lurker status. Thanks to all of you for
indulging my brief presence here.

I, for one, found your post with the Indian ratios
most welcome. It seems that you thought i was being
contentious, but that was never my intention. I was
merely posting something else that i thought was a
useful contribution to the subject.

I thought it was kind of weird that *you* fought against
*my* ideas so strongly. Anyway, i'm glad it didn't
quite become a flame-war. Hopefully other readers will
find both of our contributions useful for their own
purposes.

I also thought it was useful. I was tempted to comment about the so-called "srutal" (aka "diaschismic") temperament and how it (or rather, its corresponding Fokker periodicity block) seems to be a better fit than magic[22], with the exception of the three "ati ati komal" intervals, but I've been super busy lately and haven't had a lot of free time to comment on anything. I was going to look around for a better periodicity block that includes the three extra intervals, but wasn't sure where to start.
