The Rod Poole memorial concert
August 26, 2007
at Dangerous Curve*
1020 E Fourth Place
Los Angeles, CA 90013*

This concert will feature 3 of the 4 versions of his Music for Bowed guitar.
Featuring the surviving members of Voice of the Bowed Guitar
and friends and admirers of his bowing performing other versions.
Also will be his fellow player in the Acoustical guitar trio Jim McCauley playing upon Rod's guitar over the last of these in the spirit of his piece and recording Iasis

Finishing the tribute will be a performance of some of the reels and other tunes Rod was working on that he learned from Davey Graham.
While not in the intonation Rod performed them in (these transcriptions will happen in the future) , they adequately represent his musical interest and musical spirit.

A month later I am happy to announce that along with my own solo performance as part of the festival at the Ballhaus Naunyn- Berlin,
I have been asked to oversee the performance of a European premiere of one of Rod's music for Bowed Guitar pieces on a separate night.

He was in the process of also being invited and am quite pleased that his work will be present.

I am also working on performances in Australia and it appears that David Beardsley will be attempting to organize a NY premiere. As a note: His wife Lisa is open to the prospect of any of these works being presented by others inclined after these performances and i will have his notes/scores available to make this possible.
Basically it requires permission from her, which is being asked for the mere purpose of knowing about the performance. This can be done through myself. Rod had a very detailed notebook that contained many of the innovative ways he expanded his 17 tone just scale by the use of open tunings. this we plan to have as an online resource in the future.
