Timotheus -- like Euripides -- used a lot of ornaments, melismas, and special
effects, demonstrating a virtuosity that was not considered tasteful by
conservatives. _Exharmonic_ probably means that he modulated or ornamented
with tones outside of the mode. One might say that his art was (small b)
baroque. But that is _not_ a complaint about his using the enharmonic, which
would have been the genus likewise prefered by conservatives such as
Aristophanes.
