Might this discovery help to explain the prevailing preference for integer ratios in earlier cultures e.g. Ancient Roman and Greek musical tuning?

Seems more like a chicken/egg or it's-all-one kind of thing to me:
discovering and measuring patterns in nature, using them as tools and
building tools in their image.
