Sheng retuning - any advice please.

There is a sheng sitting on my dining room table here in London, begging to be retuned.

Does anyone have experience of tuning these things?

The bamboo pipes seem to be released by undoing the metal belt/band around them, which allows them to be lifted out individually, exposing the reed.

I found one site which claims that the length of the bamboo and metal resonators does not relate to the tuning. Is this possible?

The present tuning is "interesting" yet a violent assault on anyone within hearing distance.

Any advice welcomed.
