O yes, I am listening right now. These are very good! If it only weren't for
my thesis, I would have considered making a contribution.

Brother Yahya, was that an imitation of a Gamelan ensemble? Catchy!

Jon, you have forsaken the maqamat altogether, why? You were promising in
that quarter. Still, the etude is rather nice.

Margo, the Huseyni piano entry was good! While I believe some pitches by the
trio were played falso, nevertheless it was an appetizing hors d'oeuvre...
even though I could detect none of my suggestions implemented.

Scheurich's piece was terrific.

David's was interesting.

Hans's was exhilirating.

Christopher's was entertaining. Quite humourous! I liked it a lot.

Watson's was quite the opposite.

McLaird's was dramatic. Ooo the suspense...

Oljare ditto. I could detect some maqam flavours in this one.

Barton's was moving and melancholic. Preparatory for microtonality perhaps?
I detected that unisons of two pianos were not always in tune! 6-7 cents
detuned maybe... Also, I noticed one or two falsos toward the end if I am
not mistaken. Yet, it was a commendable performance!

Is Freelancer Susam's? It's playful and demure. A bit pointillistic as well.
I liked it very much.

Finally, Daniel's starts like a Mahler lied, goes on like Ragtime, what
the... so confused... it's romantic now and stormy next. Classical even!
Jazzy too... I'm impressed. Definitely artistically supreme. Bravo!

Oz.

Hi Ozan & group,

I don't think I've posted before, but I've been reading along for some
time. Let me introduce myself: I am 19 years old, I study composition
at the royal conservatory in the Hague. I also study comparative
linguistics at Leiden. And I've written a piece for the 17t piano project!

For some reason, my piece isn't in the player, but is available for
download at the bottom of the page.

It's part of my "past piano" series, all for differently tuned pianos
(there's even a 12tet piece in the series! :-)
The title is a bit complicated to explain for now.

The harmonies heard are all derived from a 9-13-23 chord, which, is
very accurately present in the 17t. I could also get a 3rd harmonic
from 13, 39 - since the fifth is a bit sharp & the 13 was a bit flat.
I really love the 13/9 and the 23/18!

I hope you enjoy it.

All the best,

Taylan
