Funny meantone scale

I doubt anyone has seen this one before, but if anyone has it would be
interesting to hear of it. This scale is strictly proper in meantone:

C Db E Fb G Ab Bb

Of course in 12-et it is unplayable.

Were it not for it being in meantone, that would be Maqam Saba Zamzam (Saba with a minor second instead of a neutral second), which also has either a C-natural or C-flat on top; in the latter case, it would extend to a minor tenth using a Hijaz tetrachord: Bb Cb D Eb.

Saba just happens to be one of my favorite maqamat. Diminished fourths and octaves do something for me.

According to this site:

http://www.maqamworld.com/maqamat/saba.html

Saba Zamzam goes C Db Eb Fb G Ab Bb. That has Eb rather than E, so it
isn't getting into enharmonic equivalencies in 12-et. If one sticks to
24-et, there's no way to express the scale I gave.

Ack, remind me not to do e-mail at 4:30 in the morning when I haven't slept enough. I was not expecting E and Fb together in the same scale. Obviously that would have to be meantone or JI.

I do remember a Major Locrian now that J. Smith reminded us.

Glad you corrected that statement in the following message Danny.
`Saba-Zamzama` is a `Terkib` which is practically a Saba maqam that ends
with a Kurdi melodic suffix.

And yes, it is my favourite too!
