I regret to report the passing of Hamza el-Din, ethnomusicologist and superb musician from Nubia, who died on May 22. He was buried on May 25, 2006 at Valley Memorial Park in Novato, California. He is survived by his widow, Nabra Yasuda. Plans are under way for a public memorial celebration.
