Here's a thought about what direction this could be taken: imagine
two generalized keyboards. With one hand, we can move the 1/1 around
using relative motion, and with the other, we can play notes,
including chords, relative to that 1/1. Anyone think they could handle
that?

Depending on the number of 1/1 key-notes, could a few pedals do the
same thing?
