Unless you can somehow count Glenn Branca's 100 guitar piece as a
microtonal work (which it would only be obliquely), what does the LA
festival have to do with microtonality, and this list? Metatuning is
probably a better place for these kind of announcements.

Sorry about that, Joe! :)

I just thought it was a good reference point
for a re-evaluation of all musical "movements/schools".

Microtonality doesn't occur in a cultural "vacuum"
and context means a hell of a lot if you don't want
to get any further "ghetto-ized" than you already
are! :)

Jon, but no matter.

Certainly.

I don't consider myself ghetto-ized. In fact, I have a pretty broad
pallette, and part of that is reading other contemporary music
sites/blogs like NewMusicBox, Sequenza21, Kyle Gann's PostClassic, and
a host of others. Where, incidentally, the Minimalist Jukebox has been
thoroughly covered.

It is more the issue of bandwidth - this is a high traffic list, and
we try to keep things manageable by staying as on-topic as possible,
and actually set up metatuning for the overflow and other subject
areas we'd like to discuss. Keeps things moving along, if everyone
gets the basic idea...

Cheers,
Jon
