I've been going through my collection of Guitar Player mags (starting in 1970) looking for lessons for my students, and many of the articles are real interesting. In the May 1977 issue, Terje Rypdal, a longtime favorite of mine, mentions that he had a fretless guitar, but "It doesn't sound too good, though, it was just for experimentation..." and "I also have a quartertone guitar which I tried but found it's better to just bend to get microtones." And then "There is a classical composer in Norway named Bjorn Fongaard who has a lot of microtone ideas, and he uses the guitar a lot." Anybody know of Fongaard?
And, I also found a transcription of a Lou Harrison piece (Round) by Ben Verdery from Dec 1988, and he mentions that the fingerings are by John Schneider, and he goes on to discuss how the tune was originally written for a JI guitar with interchangeable fretboards by Tom Stone. See you...HHH

hello Neil !thanks for this bit .if anyone asked me something
like, "if you could be any other guitarist, who would it be?" ,there
are many days i'd pick Rypdal .It's not that we play very much
alike ,or that i aspire to play like he does,it's just that there
are very few guitarist who consistently give me goosebumps, and he's
no.1 on that list ,love him.
