Is music theory a "zero-sum" activity or not?

My point is that both the introduction of digital sound
synthesis/sampling (on the tuning accuracy front/axis/plane)
and the introduction of MIDI (on the performance
objectivity/accuracy front/axis/plane) call for a complete and
total re-evaluation of every aspect of music AND music theory.

And contrary to the tabula-rosa
fantasies of the 1950s
serialists, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! :)

Especially tuning, the very thing you don't want to re-evaluate.
