The beginning of this one is a good example
for me of the choice of instrument timbre being
a major turn-off, and interfering with the perception
of the alleged tuning subtleties.

Another example for me would be Boulez' Hammer
Without a Master, whose timbres strike me as too
extreme. I like the brass timbres myself, since they
have both a bad-ass attack and a beautiful sustain.

The bassoon droning doesn't strike me as that
hard-core as conventional blues guitar in terms
of trying to be sad/tragic or dark.
