Good article in the new GP about tuning. Guitarist Steve Kimock, who is well known on the jam band scene, talks and demonstrates how the 12 tone system is out of tune with the overtones, and shows how he bends strings to get them on the correct JI pitches. It's well done, and there's a concise definition of what JI is. It's good that this is happening in a mag like GP, and it's also interesting that it was written by someone that is not generally known to be a microtonal player/theorist. Perhaps the concepts of tuning are finally going to spread out into the larger music community, which is exactly what needs to happen. Also, a nice photo spread of the recent NY fretless guitar fest...HHH

Spledid news Neil! Likewise, I am pleased to inform you that I shall be
priviledged to demonstrate my new Qanun based on 79 MOS 159-tET in about a
week here in Istanbul, which will undoubtedly draw some attention in local
music circles and spread the word concerning what we `crazy people` can
accomplish.

Cordially,
Ozan
