Can anyone recommend any software (PC) which would allow me to generate
pairs of notes with frequencies which can be varied to simulate the
sounds of the various tempered intervals using my PC's sound board?
Thanks
Mike

I've used Cool Edit (now Adobe Audition) for this with good
results -- you can get absolute accuracy by creating sound
files directly.

If you want MIDI, it's a whole 'nother can of beans. Most
folks on Windows or Linux use Scala to some extent...

...on Mac OS X there's LMSO...

My company's software, Tonescape, will allow you to play
around with any tuning you'd like ... and much to the
chagrin of all the Mac users out there, the first version
is PC only.

It's still only in the development/test phase, so contact
me offlist. monz(AT)tonalsoft.com

Thanks for the reply Carl.
Think I'll try my luck with Scala first - the price is more
attractive! I'm only an amateur and retired at that, so don't want to
lay out $299 unless I have to.
