The "Selling Out" of Western Music/Music Theory?

The general drift I get from Harry Partch's writings is that the 12TET
tuning system is a betrayal/selling out of western music/music theory,
but I think that is trivial compared to the much larger and much more
important betrayal of the significance of melody and melody theory as
opposed to the psychopathological fetishization of harmony/harmonic
theory that now infests western music theory.

Are you aware that THERE IS NOT EVEN AN ENTRY FOR CONTOUR
IN THE NEW GROVE MUSIC ENCYCLOPEDIA of music? What more can I say
than that?
