Beethoven "Cavatina" in 1/6-comma meantone - MIDI file

Here's a MIDI file of the beautiful
"Cavatina" movement (complete) from Beethoven's
13th Quartet in Bb, op. 130, tuned in a 15-tone
chain of 1/6-comma meantone, generated from a
Tonescape file:

beethoven_cavatina_15-tone_1-6cmt.mid

in the "monz" folder of the Files section of
the Yahoo tuning_files group:

/tuning/files/monz/

complete URL (delete the line-break):

/tuning/files/monz/
beethoven_cavatina_15-tone_1-6cmt.mid

The piece is in Eb, and the meantone chain, which
uses only the notes notated by Beethoven, extends
from Fb to F# and includes the three enharmonic
pairs Fb:E, Cb:B, and Gb:F#.

(The lucky group of Tonescape alpha-testers also
get to see the Lattice notated with Beethoven's notes,
and the uneven steps in the Pitch-Height notation,
when playing the .tonescape file.)

Hi Joe,

I gave this a listen, as well as the Mozart in 55. Somehow the Mozart is
more believable. It would help if a different patch could be used, one without a
quick vibrato.

all best, Johnny

Thanks for the feedback. As always with MIDI, what you
hear depends on what audio equipment you have in your
computer ... i think the Beethoven Cavatina sounds
terrific on the systems i've played it on (my own and
Jonathan Glasier's laptop).

Maybe i can talk Gene into making a nice .mp3 or .ogg
of this?

BTW -- of course only me, the rest of the Tonalsoft
staff, and our tiny group of alpha-testers, can edit
the Tonescape file of the Beethoven Cavatina ...

but it's a simple matter for anyone to open the MIDI file
in any ordinary sequencer program and change the patches
yourself.
