Musical gestures in midi files

Gene had asked the following, regarding my comments about studying how
a violin plays to make your sequencing sound more musical:

"This raises a new issue, but an interesting one. How do you propose
doing it?"

By good fortune, there is a recent article that just came online (as
the newer issue of the magazine came out) that not only talks about
this, but starts the article with an in-depth focus on string
