Yahoo Unveils the Patented "WTF" Interface

Gag.

Outside of bad formatting and a font size that is way too small
compared to every other site I work with, check out the
"Previous/Next" buttons (if you use the web): "Next" takes you
backward, "Previous" takes you forward.

Brings a whole new meaning to "Back to the Future".

Again - gag. As in retch.

Cheers,
Jon

I personally like the new visual touch guys.... wouldn't know about the functionality though. I use outlook e-mail myself.

Cordially,
Ozan

***My initial reaction, as it can be with anything new, was negative.

However, I guess it really does make sense to have the most recent
messages at the very top, and to go forward to go back into the
archive....

Going forward to go back... I guess I'll have to think about that one
for a while... :)

Hey Jon, that's nothing compared to what you see when you expand
messages (my usual way of reading messages, particularly when I've
been away for several days, because (until now) it's been the
quickest way to scan the complete text). They're now in reverse
order, making it quite impractical to read them chronologically. Of
course, this was not immediately obvious, since the individual
message numbers are no longer displayed with messages expanded.

I've sent feedback to Yahoo telling them what I think about all of
this, and I suggest y'all do likewise.

The thick plottens.

I did that before I even posted to the list. As far as I can tell,
this isn't even a "it's a feature, not a bug", it is simply bad
design/programming. Fortunately, I only look at tuning occasionally,
and get my important lists directly in email. Nonetheless, it should
be fixed.

Cheers,
Jon

Hum... easy boys! I think it's not that bad. At least colors are
better!

If you are accustomed to yahoo, hotmail, etc. webmail services, you
may already know about prev/next stuff.

That's a good point indeed. The main drawback of this new scheme. I
must agree with you over this.

If you have a mouse, you can flip over the titles of messages to
read on the IExplorer's state bar the message's number in the link.
I know. How IMPRACTICAL.

That's a good point. We could give'em feedback. Meanwhile...

To get to a specific message:
/tuning/message/xxxxx
[Sb. already has showed this method]

To get the list of last 30 messages:
/tuning/messages/

To get the list of 30 messages older than (including) message xxxxx
/tuning/messages/xxxxx

If you are focused on a certain message number, and want to access,
say, the 10 messages previous to (i.e. newer than) that message, you
can use:
[...].yahoo.com/group/tuning/messages/xxxxx?viscount=-10

Then, for expanded lists:

The expanded list of 30 last messages:
/tuning/messages/?expand=1

The expanded list of 30 messages older than (including) message xxxxx
/tuning/messages/xxxxx?expand=1

Lastly, a combination of expansion and the viscount command:
/tuning/messages/xxxxx?viscount=-
20&expand=1
ie. the expanded list of the 20 messages previous to (i.e. newer
than) message xxxxx

Yes, I know. Most of it is completely IMPRACTICAL, again. But please
don't blame it on me :(
