Daniel, just wait a little longer for my doctorate thesis on the Microtonal Theory of Turkish Maqam Music. I decided to write it in English, and it will contain a general historical survey of existing treatises.

Which leads me to this:
http://www.turkmuzigi.net/arastirmalar/ekoller_sistemler/. We need a
translation.

I can't wait to see it! Please let us know when you get it published.

(I'm looking at http://www.musiki.org/batida_arayislar.htm now, which discusses Partch and Danilou. I wish I knew Turkish better, and the online translator I'm using is giving me nonsense.)

The owner of that site is my colleague and friend Kemal Karaosmanoglu, a
pioneering mathematician-musician in Turkish Maqam Music, also the founder
and former president of Chiraghan Music Association. I understand that his
website has become a hit on music theory searches. He is a member of the
tuning list actually, observing diligently all that takes place from a
silent corner.

Concerning my thesis, I'll keep the tuning list posted as I prepare a few
chapters at a time. Give me one or two years to complete it, since it will
be long. My main concern is the lack of established sources in Turkish. I
shall have to rely on translations and academical studies on prominent
historical treatises.

Cordially,
Ozan
