CD Sales (was Erv Wilson)

Notice the little winky emoticon there? It's a joke, son!

I wouldn't hang around if I didn't have a high degree of respect and admiration for the group as a whole, most of the time. And certain persons--AND their music!--to a very high degree indeed without exception, and I'm NOT singling you or anyone else out for excoriation. That doesn't mean I have to like it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hasty claim was made that somehow you're more of a composer than Erv. That left the target wide open, hee!

You probably know as well as I do exactly how many CD's I sold last year--precisely none, nil, less than zero, so there's no mistaking who's more perfectly arrogant, me or Green Day?

Cheers,

Pete

That's pretty bad. (Sorry... ;-)

Pete is saying that even if I am above average, I still write crap,
because on these lists what people write is crap.

Since you denied Erv was a composer at all, I don't see why. It would
be interesting to have some samples of his work.

You sounded as if you were pulling a Brian McLaren. Presumably you
think at minimum you are a lot better than me; it would be interesting
to hear why you think The Sorcerous Leaf is so much better than The
45000 Fingers of Dr. Smith.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear on that. Erv stated to me (as I recall) that he was not a musician or composer, _not_ that he did not write or perform any music. I was a professional musician at the time (but I am not, now). I assumed he was merely acknowledging the relative time commitment to making music, from that point of view. I hope that makes sense.

I never meant to "deny" that he (or anyone else) was a composer, in the same way that I won't deny that ____ (famous director) is a film director, as much as I might really think he's not. I don't like his films, so it's a quip. I hope that distinction makes some sense, too.

Truly not so! If I'm "better" than anyone, I have yet to encounter them.

My work is all I can muster with my sometimes feeble abilities, and I can only pray that it has any merit whatsoever. Some people have said good things about it, as I presume they have about yours.

He denied that he was a composer to me, and I have never made a
living from music. But he did have several tubulongs, and
Jim French told me that Erv would play the most amazing things
on them when he thought nobody was listening.

And Erv told me how much he was looking forward to getting his
hands on the (then unready) Microzone controller. And I'm aware
he was once somehow involved with a band involving some beautiful
young actresses.
