Dear friends OF GROUP

As a tombak-player , I analyzed sound of my instrument and made a scale
from some partial of its spectrum to compose a piece named (( living
between partials))
<http://rhythmweb.com/gdg/audio/shahin-living_between_partials.mp3> AND
POSTING IT FOR RHYTHMWEB:

COPIED FROM RHYTHMWEB :

"Living Between Partials"
<http://rhythmweb.com/gdg/audio/shahin-living_between_partials.mp3>

This is a progressive piece entitled "Rebellious Tombak".

Here is another piece for tonbak & synth which is based on a whole tone
scale, and which explores the tonal possibilities of the tonbak within a
free metro-rhythmic view, "something like persian voice."

Another piece is entitled "Titanic Hands", and it is dedicated to group
member Eric Stuer (yours truly), who hurt his left arm badly early in
2003. (Thanks very much, Shaheen, but I think the phrase "Titanic" must
be used to describe other hands than my own..especially considering the
abilities of so many other esteemed members of GDG. All the same, its an
excellent and adventurous piece of music.

(( living between partials)) is based on different intervalorhythmic
concepts :

1- microtonal scale , using the intervallic relations between partials
in sound spectrum of E-tuned tombak to make a 7- tone scale which its
degrees are NEARLY equal to some degrees of 144-EDO

2-two microrhythmic scales with different time intervals ( based on my
theory)

Living in such mysterious and virtual worlds is a dream .... As a
personal point of view , Microtonality and microrhythm are the soul ,
self and nature of music.

From E( in cent):

0 152 409 603 712 925 993 1195

Which with a good estimation correlate with these digrees of 144-edo :

0 18 49 72 85 111 119 143

Its octave is 5 cent compressed.the compressin factor is .9958 . the
scale before compression would be (in cent):

0 153 411 605 715 929 997 1200

Which with a good estimation correlate with these digrees of 150-edo :

0 19 51 76 89 116 125 150

See when compression occures , the amount of change is more when going
to upper degrees of scale.

My brother, it is supremely interesting that the oriental dumbek-tombak produces the sesquitone, a fundamental element in the construction of several maqams.

I have enjoyed tremendously your music with the tombak, excellent work! You are a living example as to how music could be made without a single `note`.
