J. Murray Barbour's Tuning and Temperament is a great overview of historical European ways of tuning/tempering; and Scott Wilkinson's Tuning In is, I feel, the best introductory book on the subject, but I think it's out of print. Also WA Mathiu's Harmonic Experience has some real useful information, especially on how to construct simple lattice diagrams...best...Hstick

I second that: "The Harmonic Experience" is a great
book to begin with.

My experience with "The Harmonic Experience" was extremely
negative, on the other hand. To each his own.
