i've been busy today writing a lot about notation.

updates to:

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/meantone.htm
http://tonalsoft.com/enc/diatonic.htm

and new pages:

http://tonalsoft.com/enc/nominal.htm
http://tonalsoft.com/enc/staff.htm
http://tonalsoft.com/enc/sharp.htm
http://tonalsoft.com/enc/flat.htm

... how nice that the Encyclopaedia of Tuning finally
has definitions of "sharp" and "flat"! (it sure took
long enough ...)

In discussing the wolf, it should say the diminished sixth is normally
wider than a fifth. The diminished sixth in 1/4-comma meantone is very
close to the 49th partial, for instance, 49/32. The diminished sixth
of 50-et, 2^(31/50), is pretty close to a 20/13. The wolf of 55-equal
is the fifth of 5-equal, namely 2^(3/5). How dissonant any of these
are is something for the ear to decide, I suppose.

Discussion of the rest of these has to be postponed until the
tonalsoft site wakes up again.

i noticed that some files were uploading very sluggishly
today. it seems to be ok now.

i've just made a nice addition to the "wolf" definition,
comparing wolf : generator sizes for a variety of meantones.
