An apology

I just want to apologize to everyone whose email address I didn't "shorten"
in some of my letters. The fact is that I have to simply delete characters
manually if I don't want the whole address to appear as it is. And I nothing
but forgot to do this in my most recent messages. Once again, sorry for any
inconvenience I may have caused by this.

In general, I'd say there's no need for this. Yahoo shortens all address in
messages it displays, so web harversters won't get hold of anything useful,
regardless of what you do.

So the unshortened email addresses only get to people who have subscribed to
the list with the email option. True some of these could be spammers. In
spite of that I don't think there is any general agreement that people on
this list should be "shortening" email addresses in replies. I have never
done any such shortening of addresses, and have never been asked to,
although some (e.g. Carl) prefer not to include the so-and-so-wrote line at
all, preferring to let the text speak for itself rather than the name of the
person who said it.

Hi all.
If you see a mail in Czech from me, it's because of a mistake I've made. The
last mail I've sent, of course, should have been sent to a totally different
destination, not to the list. Sorry for that.

Petr,

I thought that was a cryptic message to someone in the underground(!).

Nice idea. :-D

Oh, I'm getting an impression like if I've never heard of someone like you
on this list. Where are you from?
