Hi Herman,

You have this example:

http://www.io.com/~hmiller/music/ex/yulung.mid

For the 'father' temperament . . .

But it sounds far too normal, too much like 12-equal . . . in fact it
sounds like primarily octatonic music in 12-equal.

What sez U?

Want to hear it without the pitch bends?
http://www.io.com/~hmiller/midi/yulung-nopb.mid

Thanks Herman! My MIDI player is rendering them identically! So it's
ignoring the pitch bends here. It doesn't do that for some of your
other files. I wonder why?

Well, some of them are tuned with Midiconv and some of them are tuned with Scala. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Scala adds an extra track and puts all the pitch bend messages in that track. But they should be getting sent to the proper MIDI channels. Maybe your MIDI player gets confused with having messages from more than one track sent to the same channel, and messages from one track sent to more than one channel?

I don't know. I'm working with SoundMax Digital Audio and Microsoft
GS Wavetable SW Synth, if that means anything.

Try this and see if that sounds better:

http://www.io.com/~hmiller/midi/yulung-tuned.mid

This was retuned with Midiconv. If this makes a difference, probably the other Scala-tuned files won't work either.

THERE WE GO!

Thanks, Herman. Yeah, this wasn't the only example.
