HI,

My name is Thea and I am from Australia. I am currently researching
the relationship between Indians music and Ancient Greek music. I am
trying to find information about their similarities and differences
between their musical structures, function and expressive character,
their musical elements: melody, harmony, rhythm, texture, tone and
color, musical notations and terminology, as well as their historical
and cultural contexts.

If you could help me or have any information regarding my musical
investigation or a person who you would recommend to ask about my
investigation contact details, it would be mostly appreciated if you
could forward it to my email address.

Thank you for taking the time to read my request,

Yours sincerely,
Thea

Hello Thea, I am certainly interested in your research. I hope I can be of some help to you.

Can you please be more specific about the line of your investigation? If this becomes too specialized a topic to be of general interest to the Tuning Group members in general, you may please correspond offlist with me.

Besr wishes,
Haresh.

Dear Thea,

Danielou draws parallels between the two musics in his book Music and the Power of Sound.

Yours,
Rick

hi Thea,

one of the most interesting writers making connections
between all of the most ancient musics (Sumerian, Vedic,
Egyptian, and Babylonian) and that of Greece, is
Ernest G. McClain.

i made a webpage several years ago exploring my ideas
about the tuning of classical Indian music:

http://tonalsoft.com/monzo/indian/indian.htm

be sure to also read paul erlich's comments in
the webpages linked at the bottom.
