Do you know if it has individual strings for every key , or some mechanism to get octaves out of the same string?

I've read Dolge's book, and played one of the few extant Decker Bros.
uprights (pictured in the Grove entry for Janko).

They have only one string per note, with the duplicate keys being
physically joined.
