Hi Pat, et al,

To answer your questions: I play my violin in just intonation for some
of my music. I'm not sure what the exact tuning is, since the way I get
it is by playing against (a) drone(s) [typically Tonic/Fifth/Octave or
Tonic/Fourth/Octave kind of thing]. I play some Hindustani classical
and some Persian classical music on my violin. I mostly just play in
GDAE (A=440Hz, not that it matters for this), but violin players from
both regions often use tunings like ADAD and AEAE among others. Right
now I'm working on a Persian "chahar mizrab" piece which uses one or the
other string adjacent to the one on which the melody is being played
(and the melody moves from string to string) for a drone for which the
violin is supposed to be tuned ADAE (it actually works in GDAE too, but
since it's in D Mahur (major) the G comes out as a Fourth drone instead
of a Fifth drone).

Cheers,
Christopher

2 : 3
2 : 3
8 : 12 : 18 : 27

(3) : 10
(12) : 18 : 27 : 40 : 60

Avoid to play open strings d and a together.
Most useful to play in key's: C and Am

3------------------------------------------
(c) g d a e
(1/1) 3/2 20/9 10/3 5/1
