1. Mahalo, to whoever found it, for catching my numerical typo.

I did actually get the 695.5 correct in the postings to wiki, as you can see further down in the same message.

It seems that cents are more easily understood by all "tunatics", than some complicated mathematical formula using pi.

2. Thanks Monz, for doing the arithmetic for us.

<start quote>
"even if the meantone chain is carried out to +/-15
generators, giving a 31-tone system, the differences
between LucyTuning and 3/10-comma meantone are no more
than ~1/7 of a cent:

gen. -------------- ~cents ----------------------
...... LucyTuning .. 3/10-comma MT .. difference .........."
<end quote>

I appreciate that I could appear to be beating angels on pinheads to death.
Yet.........
There was, (and continues to be), a valid reason for my demands about precision..

I was a thinking beyond only the cent values, and preparing for the day when the precision of our tuning technology improves,

The production, analysis and discussion of beat frequencies will then become both practical and significant.

I am pleased to see that the "John Harrison v. Dr. Robert Smith" match is still being played more than two centuries after they both died.

and good for you to be thinking that way!

as you can see, i too appreciate mathematical precision.
if two tunings are *almost* identical, i want to quantify
that "almost", and put it in my Encyclopaedia!!

(in hopes that others will also learn to appreciate
tiny differences.)
