Many thanks to mclaren and monzo for the continuing discussion of
Arnold Schoenberg!

It is *very* valuable to me... in fact the *most* valuable thing on
this forum so far!

Why is that??

Well, I must make a personal confession. At the age of 18 I, also
was a Schoenberg "moonie..." I was very absorbed in his
new "theories" (I didn't know any better at that "tender" age) and,
in fact, played several of his piano pieces in public.

As a humorous aside, sometimes I would play the same piece *TWICE*
for the audience, just so they could tell that I wasn't just "making
it up" on the fly... In some cases, it's hard to tell the
difference!!

In any case, Schonberg has had a PROFOUND PROFOUND PROFOUND PROFOUND
PROFOUND PROFOUND PROFOUND PROFOUND PROFOUND effect on a WHOLE
GENERATION OF ACADEMICS and the music that resulted from his ideas
TOOK OVER THE UNIVERSITIES for SEVERAL years.

For this reason, I would beg to differ that the Schoenberg
discussions are any waste of time.

For *me* personally, they are the most important thing on this forum
so far.

LET THE DISCUSSION
CONTINUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
