Microtonal Trumpet

To the Tuning List,
I am, with new music trumpeter Stephen Altoft, presently preparing
materials
for a microtonal trumpet manual and resource pack. This includes a
history of
the microtonal trumpet; pedagogical materials including exercises for
developing quarter-, eighth-tone and 19-div playing techniques;
details of
how to create (relatively cheaply) a 24- and 19-division trumpet by
converting
a standard trumpet; new repertoire; CDs for aural training and so on.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone involved in microtonal trumpet
playing at any level. Please send as much information as possible.
In
particular, I would like details of any microtonal trumpet repertoire
which we
may not presently be aware of: title, date, division; publisher (if
any);
instrumentation and composer.
Also, I am trying to get hold of a score (or just a photocopy of a
section of the
score) of Pavel Blatney's 'Study for Quarter-tone Trumpet'. Pavel
has lost the
manuscript and the only surviving copies are out there with
musicians. I've
checked the Ellis archive and there's not a copy there. Any help
much
appreciated.

Great news! Unfortunately I don't have any information for you,
but I (and I'm sure many others here) would certainly appreciate
status reports on your project.

Also can you recommend any recordings featuring Mr. Altoft (I
don't see anything about recordings on the duo site), or other
microtonal brass recordings? Thanks!

i don't know if you're already aware of this:

http://sonic-arts.org/monzo/trumpet/trumpet-intonation.htm

it's not about any specific microtonal trumpet work,
but rather, presents accurate calculations of the ratios
which theoretically result from the lengths of tubing
of the regular trumpet.

note that i said "theoretically" ... of course, the length
of the tubing for the trumpet valves can be adjusted by
sliding the ends of the tubes, and lip-control also plays
a very large role.

in any case, my information should be able to provide some
type of reference for anything else you find.
