those who are interested in
ancient Greek music and
music-theory will be fascinated
by Gregory Nagy's account, which
covers materials most of which
i have not read before, since
they belong more properly to
the study of Greek literature
than to music-theory _per se_.

here is his Chapter 3 of "Pindar's Homer --
The Lyric Possession of an Epic Past":

Hey Monz,

Thanks a million for this link. I'm seriously considering setting Homer after reading Sonneck, O.G., Beethoven Impressions By His Contemporaries, Dover Publications, Inc., that Beethoven was thinking about it. Beethoven greatly admired Homer.

Composer Doug Leedy has done quite a bit of work and published articles on the intonation used by Homer and how much can be determined directly from the text. he is in the proces of memorizing chapters in the orginial which he plans to record.
