While I'm sure the various measures of consonance that are being discussed
can be very useful, I would like to offer my personal viewpoint:
I feel that any approach that attempts to put musical intervals into a
linear ranking is necessarily missing much about the way we hear intervals.
Intervals have richness and power and variety that cannot be captured by a
single number.
OK, so I'm stating the obvious, but because "consonance" is such a
subjective and hence multidimensional concept, all attempts to make a linear
ranking will be controversial...
