hi all,

it seems that this post from a library never
made it to the list, so i'm forwarding it now.
apologies if it is a duplicate.

just so that everyone know that this was not
a fluke, i heard the very same thing again,
around the same time, on Sunday morning.

on Sunday, it lasted much longer (or perhaps
it just didn't come to my attention as quickly
on Saturday), from about 6:10 to 6:45 AM PDT.

Sunday's version had some low harmonics that
were more difficult to hear, and occurred more
as isolated tones. on Saturday they were very
clear chords, something like the way wind chimes
sound, except that they were long sustained tones,
and several octaves higher.

i wasn't up that early this morning (Monday),
so i don't know if it happened again. but
i'll sure be listening out for this again.

i've tried to rationalize it by thinking that
perhaps it's the sound of fighter jets doing
training flights -- there are several major
military bases in and around San Diego, including
Miramar (where "Top Gun" was filmed), and they're
all far enough away from me that the incredibly
loud roar from those jets would be much softer
by the time it reached my neighborhood.

... but still, this sounded nothing like the
annoying roar which comes from those plans.
this sound was soothing and gentle.

i'm surprised that no-one else in Southern
California has written anything about it --
it lasted so long both times, and was so unusual,
that i'm sure there are other people who heard
it and noticed. perhaps if anyone reading this
follows SETI, they can forward my posts to someplace
where someone might take notice.
