Chris:
My suggestion would be to proceed in a way like percussionists
learn hairy polyrhythms - start with big clunky ones and slowly
learn in-between steps later.

Meaning this (for example):

practice singing arpeggiated major thirds
then minor thirds
then 5- TET !
then 6- TET, 8 - TET, etc.
then create scales, 2-step size types.

I have heard Johnny Reinhard do a very fast
demonstration similar to this - and it's astounding:

He first sings a descending 5 - TET chromatic scale
(one octave)
Then does the same, filling in-between notes: 10- TET
Then does the same again, filling in-between those,
resulting in a 20-Tone chromatic scale. The point
being made, of course, that the exercise starts
with a simple 5-equal scale.

Thanks. I've found discerning non 12 or non just intervals in my singing
difficult. I'll practice this.
