hmmm ... it's very interesting to see Greg's name
pop up on this list right now, since i was just
writing about my "good old days" at Manhattan.

Greg was one of my best friends there, and that
was largely because he absolutely *loved* playing
avant-garde music, and the weirder it was, the more
he liked it. he *always* made himself available
to play any of my new compositions, and he always
did a fantastic job.

last time i saw him was at the New York premier of
Ben Johnston's _Chamber Symphony_. that was in
December, i think it was 1995 or '96 ... don't remember.

hi monz,

we totally screwed up the spelling of his last name -- see above!

so are we still talking about the same guy?

oops! yes, we're definitely talking about the same
guy. his name is Kitzis! IIRC, Greg Kipnis is the
name of a harpsichordist, no?

(funny how we both made the same slip ... damn
musicians can't come up with different-enough names! ...)

ah, OK ... i guess my mind was conflating the
g's and o's and r's of "Igor" and "Gregor".

anyway, Gregor Kitzis is really amazing,
and he performs a lot in the New York area.
