Jon Szanto opinion

So I guess I never really *did* hear what Jon thinks Harry P. would
have thought about the Partch "virtual instruments."

Knowing Partch as you did, Jon, what do you think? Do you agree with
those who think the interactive twittling on the computer keyboard
would be considered *corporeal* enough or not.

Or would Partch have been flattered, possibly, and have been
mesmerized by the technology that makes this possible, since he did
seem quite taken by the simple early tape recorder...

???

Maybe can't be answered??

Tx!

Personally, I think Jon Szanto sucks.

Oh, that's not what you wanted.

I'll get back to you on that, but you've got to ask yourself: even if I did have a cogent, clear, easily-defensible opinion, based on personal knowledge gleaned from Partch's writings and from Partch himself...

Ask yourself: who would give a rat's ass what I think?

Cheers,
Jon

***This is pretty funny, since I was going to make a joke about that
and then decided on just a "seriouso" post...

***Well, since there have been various opinions about whether
diddling around on the computer keyboard and having the monitor
Partch jump around is "corporeal" activity, I though you probably
would have some kind of opinion...

Driving under the influence of equal temperament. I'm starting to get
worried about you, Jon.

Life = danger, danger = life. Besides, I'm going to get caught up on stuff this afternoon, and all I'm going to be listening to is Javanese court gamelan. Kind of like a high colonic for the tuning center of my brain...

Cheers,
Jon

Good stuff. Did you ever play in one of those ensembles?

There is no one on this list whose opinion I'd give more rat's asses for than yours.

Cheers,

Kyle :^)

Unfortunately for only about 6 months, Balinese gamelan for about 1.5 years (a little more sporadically). I caught the Javanese just before they stopped teaching one, and am deeply sorry I didn't play sooner. I've been involved in a lot of musics, but even from the first time I heard one I've thought that the music in 'heaven' (what ever form you take that to be) must sound like the Javanese court gamelans.

I've got friends that go to Java and Bali every year for festivals and learning, and I really intend to do that soon, so it won't end up on some cosmic list of things I "should have done"...

Cheers,
Jon
