I wasn't trying to make anyone jealous, I just wanted
to share a review of a microtonal concert.

Rod was amazing. Since I was staying at his studio,
I got to hear him play every day. Every time he plays,
he shows yet another side of his amazing improvising and
this concert was no exception.

The Duo played 12tet classical guitars tuned with one 8/7 flatter
(so, closer to a 6th tone, not the quarter tone that the reviewer used).
The James Tenny was interesting, but the Five Microtonal Studies by
Jeffry Holmes was a knock out. Holmes exploited various
interesting properties of two 12tet guitars tuned this way:
melodies with parallel 8/7 harmony, chords, harmonics.
Very nice. I talked a bit with Holmes and he told me his
focus is on writing JI music for 12tet instruments that don't
require extensive modifications, to get away from having
custom instruments built.

Lou Harrisons Scenes from Nek Chandi was performed by
John Schneider on a National Steel guitar (not a dobro as stated
by the reviewer, although dobro can be a generic term).
A very nice piece and a stunning performance, I'm
looking forward to it's release on Johns next Bridge CD.
It should be out anyday. I'm blanking on Ditone Set,
I was busy readying myself for my set.

Hi David

I enjoyed reading your review.

Do you know if the CD will be generally available, eg on Amazon or some such
commercial site?

Thanks
