Hi,

Another rambling sparked off by Margo's musings on scales with wide major
thirds and wide fifths:

32 EDO contains the following approximation to a 7-tone diatonic

(pitch-class numbers 0..31 used)

6
19 31
0 12
13 25
6

0 = C = tonic. 0, 12, 19 Major triad, 25, 0 12 minor triad

12/32 * 1200 = 450 cents 'Major 3rd'
7/32 * 1200 = 262.5 cents 'Minor 3rd
Fifth = 712.5 cents
'chromatic step' = 37.5cents

I would say that the scale fails some test or other,
but nevertheless it is interesting.

Scale also contains 8EDO 'octatonics' (but we all knew that anyway)

I noticed that it also offers the same fifth divided differently:
11 + 8 (412 + 300)
10 + 9 (375 + 337.5)
Some interesting 'thirds' in there.

Mark
