neutral thirds in what cultures?

I've started on a piece in 27.35 ET (same as 44 CET) in which I explore
the 5 qualities of 3rds, including the neutral third (approx. 11/9), in
the melody.

The piece has a distinctly Middle Eastern flavor, but I'm wondering what
cultures and musics of the Near East make prominent use of the neutral
third, and what recordings I might seek out.

For the record, I'm much more interested in real folk/classical
recordings than those including pop Westernisms.
