I think that this is one of the groups on an old
collection of urban music from Kinshasa (french label,
can't recall the name at present) i've got. In the
liner notes they talk about how the DIY pickups for
the mbira/likembe are made from the magnets of broken
loudspeakers, wrapped in wire. the record is one of
the most beautiful things i've heard--sounds more like
the video clip, and less like the mp3 on this site
which is much cleaner.
