Finale comes with a set of quartertone symbols, allows additional (i.e.
homemade) symbols, and the key signature utility is quite flexible, allowing
any sequence of accidentals or symbols and any white key/black key
arrangement for any number of nominals or lines on a staff. Playback in the
given notation is another matter. This is either done in the external
synthesizer directly (though one can embed sys. exclusives commands in a
finale score) or via pitch bends attached to symbols in the score.

Lime uses pitch bends and comes with a set of quartertone symbols.
Unfortunately, it cannot do non-traditional staffs or key signatures.

Uh... how to embed sys ex messages? I've not found a way to embed more than
3 MIDI bytes in a Finale score! I would love to be able to use Finale for
re-tuning on-the-fly...
