Contrary to Jon Szanto's interpretation, I am misrepresented in his charming
anti-mathematical Sunday sermon.

I do not believe music is an international language, believeing math
principles to be a less misunderstood realm. While not every parameter of
music is fully grasped mathematically, digital recording is certainly more
than a quantam leap past Pythagoras. The United Nations put forward the
music statement in the political hope of creating as much unity as possible.
I do agree with Jon that a different style can be as unintellible as Tatar is
to the average Mayan.

As a student I hated math, but I've come to appreciate its beauty since
identifying just and other intervals with a specific number address.

IMHO, math in intrinsic to all music, but it is a thing of beauty when it
reveals the mysteries of microtonal tunings.
