opposed to censorship

There has been a proposal on the microtonal "Theory Wonk" list (title
meant, affectionately, of course... :) ) that *this* list,
the "Crazy" list be censored or moderated of some of
its "craziness..."

For the record, I personally am *absolutely* opposed to this idea,
and I believe this "Crazy" forum should be a totally uncensored place
which is left to take whatever form it wishes...

I certainly hope that Jeff Scott does *not* try to "moderate..."

I plan to start full moderation of this list the day
after I get my lobotomy.

Seriously though, if I start moderating then I am going
to get nothing but email from people explaining why I
should ban person Q. And email from Q saying I should
ban R. And email from R saying I should ban T. All
quite vehement and explicit in their demands and
suggesting that I am a <category F> or <category P>
because I won't do it because they remember very well
last month when I banned person U whose crimes against
the state were very mild compared to the person being
nominated for exile...

I might someday entertain the idea of giving some
moderation privledges to any masochists foolish
enough to want them... but it would have to be
somebody I really didn't like. :-) <= attention!

Joe, unless I missed it (always possible), no one on the big list
proposed any change whatever to _this_ list. Some of us (including me)
_did_ muse about forming a _new_ list that was moderated.

As you may know, Jeff has another list, spiritual_tuning, which is
moderated by Marc Jones (Orphan Soul) - apologies if I don't have the
last name right. I don't belong to that list, so don't know how heavy
the traffic is, but it'd be fun to hear from Marc regarding how onerous
the job of moderator is.

I absolutely support Jeff in his decision to let this list succeed or
fail in its current state.
