Does anyone know of a freeware/shareware application for Mac that will
allow one to record audio in? I've a friend who doesn't want to shell
out on Cubase.

Many thanks

Which version of Mac OS? There are quite a few "programming" examples for Mac OS X that deal with audio recording.

If you are familiar with the program the program "pd", it runs on several platforms, and can record audio. It does require a little bit more work in learning the program, but there are some examples of "recording" audio with it...

Thanks Mike - it's OSX that my friend has. I had a trawl through the net for pd and I'll pass the
link on but I think he's after something really simple to get the analogue digitised so that he
can make CDs of his research dictations or whatever.

Kind Regards

Looks like Sound Studio might be the ticket - for OS X, straight-forward, 2 week demo, and not expensive:

Cheers,
Jon (who has always wanted to own a Mac, but never has...)

Thanks, I'll pass that on. Can't help with the Mac - best save your pennies.
