re: http://music.columbia.edu/~chris/dissert.html

Most of the piece is in 19-tet. As discussed in the "essay"
http://music.columbia.edu/~chris/diss.title.cont.htm
the harmony consists mostly of various 19-tet "versions" of the
Just-Intonation sonority 8:9:10:12:13:14.

(i.e. 0 3 6 11 12 16
0 3 6 11 13 16
0 3 6 11 12 15)

(see http://music.columbia.edu/~chris/diss.familiar.htm#19tone for more).

There are certain sections of the piece called "drone sections" which are
in pure JI, more or less, and some bring out this beautiful chord. If you
are a JI enthusiast, then you'll probably enjoy most the beginnings and
endings of the 5 "Parts" mp3s at the bottom of the page, especially Parts
II, IV and V.
